Welcome to Six-Sentence Sunday!
This week I present you with another excerpt from my upcoming horror novella SOMETHING BLACK…
This scene is from an in media res segment near the beginning of the novel, when an unnamed character reflects on what is left of the world now that the shadows have invaded.
I can’t remember life before the shadows came.
The notion of that old life hung there, just out of reach: a job, a wife, a little girl and friends and TV and basketball and eating out, but the actual memories were blocked off, like they’d been crumpled up and thrown away.
If I live long enough, I might completely forget there even was a time before.
He didn’t realize he was crying until the tears fell onto his hands.
The howls burst out of the burgeoning night. The blood sun finished its descent, leaving only a faint, dripping haze on the horizon.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors!
